Please read our Cookie policy

We use cookies so that users who log in to this site and browse through our pages, receive cleaner and safer URLs.

What are cookies?

A cookie (also called web cookie, Internet cookie, browser cookie, or technically correct HTTP cookie) is a small piece of data sent from a website and stored on the user's computer by its web browser while the user is browsing. Some cookies destroy themselves once the browsing session is over, others are persistent and stay in your browser and are used during your next visit to the same website.

Cookies were designed as a reliable mechanism for websites to remember operational information or to record your browsing activity (including clicking particular buttons, logging in, or recording which pages were visited in the past).

The alternative to cookies would be to keep this information in the URL, what makes the URL lines more complicated and unsafe.

What cookies are used by imindeducation?

We only use one persistent cookie if you have clicked the ‘Remember your password?” option.

This MoodleID cookie is kept in your browser after the session ends and is purely for convenience: it remembers your username within the browser. This means that when you return to this site the username field on the login page will already be filled in for you. It is safe to refuse this cookie by not clicking the "Remember your password?" option; you just will have to retype your username every time you log in.

We use several secure session cookies that are not permanent and are destroyed when you log out or close the browser. Our most important session cookie is the MoodleSession cookie. You must allow this cookie into your browser to provide continuity and maintain your login from page to page. Other cookies remember things like editor preferences or the state of each collapsible block.

We also avoid using clear gifs, web beacons or web bugs and do not use third party trackers like AdWords conversion tracking, Google Analytics or Alexa. However, when a teacher embeds a third party movie from YouTube, Vimeo, or Facebook, it is highly probable that this third party tracks your behaviour.

  • What is a web browser? A web browser is a software program which makes it possible for you to visit the Internet. Most common web browsers are Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Edge, or the obsolete Windows Explorer.
  • What is a URL? A URL is the address line at the top of the page you are visiting while browsing. An example of a URL: https://www.imindeducation.net/course/view.php?id=1.
  • What are clear gifs, web beacons and web bugs? These are tiny graphics about the size of a single pixel. Their unique identifier is used to track the movements of web users between pages and websites. Unlike cookies, which are clearly listed in a user’s computer cookie list, clear gifs, web beacons and web bugs are embedded invisibly on web pages and difficult to spot and control.
  • Do you want to know how a cookie looks like? Lines of code like the ones below:
